Non-Contact Dry Gas Seals
Non-contact Dry Gas Seals function without physical contact between the two seal faces. Instead, they rely on high-speed gas flow passing through spiral grooves on the rotating face to create a rigid gas film, preventing direct contact between the seal faces. Unlike contact-type mechanical shaft seals, non-contact seals operate without generating friction or heat during rotation, resulting in a longer lifespan and significantly reduced maintenance costs.
These seals are commonly used in high-speed and high-temperature process equipment such as gas turbines and fans. In recent years, their application has expanded to include pumps and mixers, signaling a trend in the evolution of mechanical seals.
